HerTorah: Women* Writing Torah Series: "Safrut: The Art & Insight of a Torah Scribe"

with sofrot/scribal artists Julie Seltzer, Rabbi Yonah Lavery-Yisraeli, and Shoshana Gugenheim Kedem

Featuring the work of MyZuzah.org

Where are we in the text? Where do we find ourselves? Join us in a series exploring the ways women* embed themselves into Torah. What could Torah look like with the addition of women's voices and commentaries? This series will feature women Torah commentators and sofrot (Torah scribes) who are exploring Torah from their own female perspectives, and learn how their work can expand and deepen the experience of Torah for everyone.

Come learn with us – our understanding of Torah is incomplete without you around our table.

As always, the conversation won't be complete without you. We want to be together with you. Tell a friend or family member to join in -- we would love to meet her, too!

Join us Wednesday 1/26 @ 8:15-9:45pm EST

Thrilled to be joined by MyZuzah for this gathering. Visit www.myzuzah.org to sign up to receive a complimentary mezuzah scroll (klaf) and mezuzah case to hang in your home!

Come when you can; stay till you can’t.

While this session won’t be an in-depth art tutorial, if you’d like to “doodle along,” you can find calligraphy markers that would work well here.

HerTorah gathers together a diverse community of Jewish women to connect over our shared heritage, explore our collective wisdom, and elevate our communal experience in learning with and from one another.

HerTorah is directed by Rabbanit Aliza Sperling, made possible in part by funds granted by the Covenant Foundation & the Aviv Foundation and inspired by each one of us.

Featuring MyZuzah.org

MyZuzah believes in connecting and protecting all Jews by putting a mezuzah on the front door of every Jewish home. A touchpoint that unites all Jews, the mezuzah’s mystical power has connected and protected the Jewish people since the Exodus. www.myzuzah.org

This gathering welcomes women* 12+ and learners of all backgrounds.

SVIVAH is dependent on the generosity of those who choose to invest in a powerful community of women. As always, cost should never be a barrier to anything SVIVAH, but if you can, please help us show respect to our speakers/facilitators for their time and expertise. www.svivah.org/donate

Questions about ZOOM or about this gathering? Email connect@svivah.org

*SVIVAH defines "Jewish woman" as anyone wishing to be included in a circle of Jewish women. If you want to be here, we want you to be here.
