Hag HaBanot
Chanukah HerTorah
Featuring R’ Dalia Davis and some special guests
Hag HaBanot (or Eid Al-Banat) is a holiday celebrated by women on Rosh Hodesh Tevet (which falls on Hanukkah).
It was celebrated throughout the Mediterranean (specifically Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Greece, and Turkey), but it is best kept and widely still celebrated by the Tunisian Jewish community today.
The holiday's essence is women sisterhood and celebration of women.
Hag HaBanot (translation, "celebration of women") is a ritual celebration of sisterhood that finds its roots in North African Sephardic communities. We will share some of the customs of this beautiful Sephardic feminist holiday celebrating women*s relationships.
We will light candles together as well.
Come hang out with us. We’d absolutely love to celebrate Chanukah with you.
Wednesday, December 17th @ 8:15-9:45pm ET
