At SVIVAH, we believe Torah lives in the stories we carry and the women* we lift up. Our stories are how we remember, how we persevere, and even how we hold love and loss at the same time. Each one of us carries Torah in our lived experiences and the stories we share.

This spring, we’re coming together around a book that asks a lot of us.

Rachel Goldberg-Polin’s memoir, When We See You Again (out April 21, 2026), shares her journey in the aftermath of her son Hersh’s abduction and murder following October 7th. It’s a story of grief, and love, and advocacy, and what it means to keep going when everything is shattered. It's a story of strong women* and the communities that hold us.

“I sat down to write my pain, and out poured loss, suffering, love, mourning, devotion, grief, adoration and fracturedness.”

We’re not coming to this book for answers. We’re coming to be in it together.

Join us for a WhatsApp-based, asynchronous book club.

This is a space to read at your own pace and be in conversation as you go. We will hold our discussions through messages, voice notes, reactions, polls, and whatever feels most natural to you. We'll each read on our own and share our thoughts as they happen — there is no right or wrong way to hold this story.

How we’ll gather

We’ll move through the book in loose sections over time.
Conversations will happen in WhatsApp.
You can jump in whenever you have the space.
You can share a lot, a little, or just listen. All forms of participation are valid.

If you want to be part of it

We’ll start on May 1st, to give us all time to purchase the book or find it at a local library.

This is a heavy story and we understand if it feels like "too much" from time to time. We'll move slowly to give ourselves time to process and react. You’re welcome to engage as much or as little as feels right. We are in this together, as a community.
