My Prayer/Tefillati: Finding the Prayers of Our Hearts

in partnership with Orot, Mayyim Hayyim, and Bayit

Featured Panelists: Dr. Jane Shapiro, Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz, Rabbi Rachel Barenblat, Fran Loosen, Rabbi Samantha Frank

Workshop Facilitators: Rav Amalia Mark (ritual design), Rabbi Sarah Tasman (prayerful art), Kohenet Rachel Kann (prayer writing), Yael Flusberg (Yizkor, remembering loved ones lost)

The prayers in our hearts are not always reflected within the pages of the traditional prayerbooks. But that just means that they are there for us to discover

Come join some of the most creative and beautiful liturgists of today as they share their process of discovering new prayers and new formats for accessing prayerfulness within the rich traditions of prayers that have existed for generations. They will share with us how they explore poetry, art, song, ritual design to unlock their own prayerfulness.

Then, we will have the opportunity to work closely with other ritualists to discover your own prayer for this High Holiday season. This will be a panel discussion followed by a workshop of your choice: writing, art, ritual design, remembering a loved one.

Join us – and the long, rich history of women crafting their own prayers for generations and unlocking the powerful prayers in our hearts.

Thursday evening 9/29 at 8:00-9:40pm ET

No previous writing experience or experience with Hebrew necessary. Just an openness to what you might discover. Creativity in any form is most welcomed. You won’t have to share anything unless you want to.

Join us before Yom Kippur. We can’t wait to see you.

*As always, SVIVAH welcomes anyone who wants to be included in a circle of Jewish women*. If you want to be here, we want you to be here - and welcome.

SVIVAH is dependent on the generosity of those who choose to invest in a powerful community of women. Cost should never be a barrier to participation in anything SVIVAH, but if you can help us show respect to our educators for their time and talent, we would be so very grateful. www.svivah.org/donate
