HerTorah: Strength Through Togetherness

An Evening of Purim Learning in the Merit of the Hostages

Featuring Dr. Guila Benchimol, Rabba Anat Sharbat, Rav Sarah Mulhern and R’ Aliza Sperling

When Mordechai tells Esther that the fate of the Jewish people rests in her hands and she must approach the king on their behalf, putting her life at risk in doing so, Esther tells Mordechai:

“Go, gather all the Jews who live in Shushan, and fast in my behalf... I and my maids will observe the same fast. Then I shall go to the king, though it is contrary to the law; and if I am to perish, I shall perish!” (4:16)

Why is it so important to Esther for all the Jews to gather on her behalf? What can we learn from her about the power of gathering?

Join us on March 20th as we gather together on behalf of our sisters and brothers held captive in Gaza.

Together we will learn how Esther saves her people, and show up in solidarity and love for the women, men, and children who are so alone and far away.

  • Dr. Guila Benchimol will teach us about the power of gathering in the Megillah (Book of Esther), and the ways in which we can show up for survivors of October 7th.

  • Rabba Anat Sharbat leads weekly Kabbalat Shabbat and Havdalah in Hostages Square in Tel Aviv, and will explain why she devotes herself to bringing Jews at Hostage Square together in prayer.

  • Rav Sarah Mulhern will help us connect powerfully to the hostages this holiday through ritual and activism.

Come when you can, stay till you can’t. But, come. Our learning is incomplete without you.

Join us Wednesday 3/20 @ 8:15-9:45pm ET

Please invite someone you think might want to be with us, too.
